Ok, this is a technique
I just discovered and I have
used it often already :-)
For this tutorial you will need:
Just PSP7....no plugins required :-)
This is the image I am
going to use....you can use this one or an
image of your own choice.

I want to create a torn edge effect so I
am going to use the freehand
tool with the following
settings:

Just go around the edge (clicking several times at different points
in the picture) and when you've gone around the entire picture, right click one
time......now you should have a selection like this...

Copy and paste as a new image.......this is what you
should have...

I am going to resize my image with the following
settings but you don't have to if you think
your image is small/big enough ;-)

If you do resize your image......copy & paste as a
new image again :-)
We are ready now to make our stationery background......
Go to image, image information and see what the height of your image is...this is my image
it's
information....

Pick a colour from the image for your stationery
background...I chose #B08AA2. Open a new image with the
following settings (if your image has a different height, change it to your image). As you
can see I have added 10 pixels
to it's original height size...that's because we are going to add an effect to the image
later on and we are going to need those
extra 10 pixels (djeez, I hope I am still making sense !!! LOL)

Now we are going to copy our image as a new selection
into our background image. The result
should look something like this.......

Don't deselect. We are now ready to add our effect.......first go to effects, 3d effects,
inner bevel and use these
settings:

Still don't deselect.......go to effects, 3d effects,
drop shadow and use these settings:
Deselect and that's your finished left border. I hope
you enjoyed this tutorial :-)
