Okies.........I thought it was time
for another tutorial. Yesterday I was
creating a stationery and I wanted to make a checkered background.
Well.......
it had such a nice effect that I decided to turn it into a
tut.........and here it is !!
For this tutorial you are only going to need PSP7
and 20/20.
In PSP create a
new image with these settings:

Now we are going to zoom in on this
image. Click on the zoom
tool and zoom in untill you
have the 8:1 ratio.
We have to select
a part of this image now. We want to select a 25x25 part in our
left corner. Start in the middle and then go down to the center till
you see this on your screen (bottompart of PSP)
Now you have a
quarter of the image selected :-) Click on the flood-fill tool
and
after you've done this...select two colours for your background. I am
using two
lovely blues: #CCE6FF and #161876
I am going to floodfill the first selection with the second colour #161876.
Your image
should look like this:

Deselect. Now we want to select the
25x25 left bottom corner part.
(Am I still making sense ??? LOL)
Start from the
left-middle to the center......and then go down with your
cursor. You should see something like this on your screen (down)
Floodfill this
selection with the same colour we used for our first
selection #161876.
It's a bit simpler now to select the other squares. Just click on your
magic wand
tool and click on one of the
two unfilled squares. As you can see, the empty
part is selected. We are going to floodfill this one with the lighter
blue colour. But we have
to change the colours first. Click on the two arrows between the two
colours:
After you've done
this, the lighter blue colour has become your foreground colour.
Now you can floodfill the selected square. Repeat this for the other
empty square. After you've
done all of this.........you're picture should look like this:
Now we are going
to add a neat little effect. Select the magic wand tool and select one
of the light blue squares. Now with shift held down, click on the other
light blue
square. You should have both of them selected.
Go to effects, 3d
effects, outter bevel and use these settings:
Now go to
selections, invert and the other two squares should be selected now.
Again
apply the outer bevel settings. Deselect.
Save this picture and open it in 20/20. Go to image, muted background
and use these settings:
First change the
background colour:
and then apply
these settings:
And there you have
another background :-)
