I've had a few request concerning this background. Once you've
finished this tutorial, you've got a complete background stationery.
It's a faded effect border background thingie !! LOL

You are going to need:

3d bar mask
20/20
fm tile tools

I've used a lovely fairy picture for this tutorial:

Let's make the background first...this is a rather big
tutorial (for me to write anyway !! LOL).....

Open this picture in 20/20. Go to image, tile effect. Now go to
image, muted background and use these settings:

This is what you should have:

Save your picture.

Open the tiled, muted picture in PSP. We are going to add a
little depth to it now. Go to effects, plug-in filters, fm tile tools,
blend emboss and use these settings:

Your background is almost finished.....we are going to make sure
this background is seamless once you use it. There's a little trick
for this.

With your image selected, look into the lowerright corner
of PSP and you will see the image properties like this:

We are interested in the height of our picture. Which is
421.
Here comes the trick. Open a new image with these settings:

The 421 one bit is really important. This assures you of your
seamless background.

Now we are going to floodfill our transparent background with the
fairy picture.

Click on the flood fill icon:

This bit is a tricky to explain. In the upperright corner you
will find the settings for the flood fill tool like this:

Click on the button I pointed the arrow to. If you had the right settings,
you'll be able to chose a pattern now. If not, you have to change your
styles settings to patterns. This is how you can do that. Left click again on
the button.....but keep your finger on the mouse button a bit longer.
You'll get these options:

Select the one the arrow is pointing to. Now when you click on
the buttons once, you can chose a pattern (I really do hope this made
sense !! LOL).  Let's chose a pattern.....you'll get
this pattern window:

Click on the arrow besides the pattern and now you can chose
the picture you want to use for you background, the fairy one.

Select the transparent image we made in the beginning and fill
it with the fairy picture (just click on the transparent image once).
Well, that's your background part one finished.....check the end-result
here.

Onto the border now........again, open the lovely fairy picture.

Go to image, mirror. Then go to masks, load from disk and select
the 3dbar.msk. Click open. After you've done this, your picture should look
like this:

Go to masks, invert. This is what you should have now:

We are going to do one more thing to this picture and then
we are almost ready (phew !! LOL)

Go to effects, plug-in filters, fm tile tools, seamless tile and use
these settings:

We are ready to finish the background now. With the fairy picture still selected,
go to edit, copy. Select the 1024x421 background and go to edit, paste, as
new selection. You see that you can move around the picture now. Move it
to the left and click on the background. It doesn't have to be perfect straight away.
The fairy picture is still selected and now you can snug it into place with
the ctrl and cursor keys. Once you've done this......it should look
like this:

Deselect (selections, select none) and your seamless fairy background
is finished !!!

I hope everything in this tutorial made sense. If not, send me an
email and I will adjust it.
