Demonoid Phenomenon ![]() Media- plasticote flat oils.
I started with a primer coat of Krylon spray white primer. Then
an all over coat of a deep golden yellow.
Thinned them out quite a bit, about until the consistency of milk. Then
placing the figure upside down I started
After the body had dried and was done to my satisfaction I sealed it
with a light coat of matte spray. That will save you lots of repair work.
Only if your using oils that is. I wouldn't recommend it for acrylics,
they may not have very good adhesion with the matte spray.
I mixed up some tan for his soft underbelly, and washed in some black to "dirty" it up a bit. His "guzzle" under his chin is a base coat of pink, then a touch of white and blue mix for a blend again a nice long lash liner will help soften your touch for blending. Then a touch or 2 of some lighten red, and his neck sack was done. A nice reptilian black and yellow eye was next, put a little of the
red around it for definition. I painted the teeth, and then thinned out
some of the 2nd shade of the darker red. Added some brown, to get dark
blood color.
Started on the base- I find the wooden craft shapes you can find at Michael's works the best. I seal them with matte spray before I do anything. I then affixed him with some hot glue. "painted on a coat of good old elmers and buried him up to his waist in "sand art" sand- tan in color. While that dried I started the skeleton parts- sculpey was the media for this. rolled out general shapes, and pressed in some details- the skull of course was the hardest- I looked at a skeleton figure I had and tried to copy it. after baking it I X-acto'ed in the finer details. I wasn't to concerned with them because I knew I could hide the mistakes by "burying" them in the base. I prepainted them with yellows and greens, trying for that burnt rotting look. Then I took him out of the sand placed the skeleton parts as I wanted them and applied more elemers- back into the sand it went. A couple more applications were needed to build up the base. After that I washed the base with browns grays and black. Dirtied him up a little with some brown wash and then sealed him up with matte. All in all this was a fun project to paint, looking forward to the next
contest I can get into. Thanks for reading this.
