I would like to thank everyone who helped me in my research. When I first started out
I met a new cousin online, Al Steinburg and he was a great help in providing
me with alot of information and where to look.Also I would never have got as far as I
have without the help of Kent Stienburg , another online cousin and
Sharon Helmer of Morewood, Ontario and Hilliard Steinburg of Brinston.
A big debt is owed Garry Bishop the
owner of the St.Joseph Island site. Garry provided me with info and pictures on my
immediate family and was never too busy to give an opinion on a problem I might have
encountered.
The biggest debt is owed to my son, Jim Ervin for without his help and patience I would never have got this far. He first provided me with a computer, then "taught " me how to use it (believe me this was no easy task). This web page will be started by me and then the difficult part will fall to him, to polish the edges and put in all the little perks.
So far I have gathered information on 3 or 4 families starting out in the Dundas County area and I hope as time goes on to be able to add to what I have.This has been fun and very enriching for not only has my family grown in past relatives but also in the new ones I am meeting online and in person.I will start with the basics I have and the page will be updated as Jim and "I" have the time to add to it. I hope it gives some enjoyment and information to the readers. The following are the main families and their descendents I have gathered information on and as I upload their data I will put an active link to their name so you can go right to their part of the page if you want.I have numbered them in the order of their descent with each family. eg=William & Mary (1), their children (2), their children (3) etc.Click on any thumbnail for full size picture.
I have been trying to prove the parentage of William Van Steinburg, my ancestor, and with
this information I feel it leads to Thomas Van Steinburg & Mary Shirley. Henry had a son William
and John & Margaret were not married until 1823 and their 1st child born in 1831. This is
the 3 main families I find at this time living in the Dundas area at the time of Williams birth.
There is proof Thomas & Henry are brothers from a will left by Henry`s son William and a time
gap in between, Aaron & Ann, Thomas`s children that would fit William but no proof. If anyone
has any knowledge of this I would love to hear from you.
