Evenin' all!!
I've been away on holiday (or 'vacation' as Americans and Canadians say - but you're wrong, it's called a 'holiday'!) hence my absense of late.
I've just checked on here for the first time in just over a week or so and it looks like a new poster to the board has caused a bit of a stir again. I hope I'm not sounding a hypocrite 'cos I know I've sometimes jumped on newbies on the odd occasion (although rest assured they're nearly always Tim-Talkers!) or sound a bossy bastard, but the problem with being 'regulars' on a board is that it can become somewhat cliquish and when it comes to new posters, if their opinions or style is different we start to sound a bit like Rednecks: "you aint from round this here message board are ya boy!!" Anyway, from now on I'm ignoring posts that I do not agree with rather than start flame wars.
Otherwise, it's nice to be back with such brilliant and life-affirming people. When I feel depressed, you lot always cheer me up. How is everyone? Kim? Dana? Ari? Carol? Rose? Charlotte? Meagan? The lurkers? Groucho? Harpo? Chico? Laurel? Hardy? And anyone else I've forgotten? That bloke who posts on here occasionally...the one who types all in lower case???

Jimesque eh? Is that another bit of message board slang along with 'doing a Katie' and 'as diplomatic as Dana' !! I can see the variations - Pseudo-Jimesque, Scientific Jimism, Existential Jimism, Logical Jimism, Transcendental Jimism, Marxism-Leninism-Jimism etc......But getting back to the point, the archived messages are really interesting. It's such a shame we can't keep a few of the most inspiring and thoughtful ones up for good.
But alas, a message service as free as this is open to abuse in itself, even from abusers themselves it seems. One sick f*ck once wrote:

But he soon got shot out of the water:

subject: BOOK/FILM (last time!)
Yeah I know, this issue has been resolved now and the book and the film are two different species altogether, but I was browsing through the old messages and came across a reply Mr. R gave to a similar question some time ago, and goes into quite in-depth details of the important differences between the two. I know the debate has quietened down, but I thought it would be interesting to re-post it here. (I hope Mr. R doesn't mind!)"the changes from the book to screenplay and then from screenplay to screen came about in many ways...here are a few
alex was not a victim and so some of his choices were guess work that was off target.
i was a victim so i could spot his hits and misses.
by setting it in winter we took all population out of the area leaving tom with no distractions.
cinematically i felt winter suited the story better.
i didn't think dad would confess...ask any victim!!!
the ending in the book i thought was unnecessary and gave creedence to the cyclical abuse theory...which although sometimes the case...is often over-used as a way to place blame elsewhere...e.g. he/she wasn't abused therefore he/she can't be an abuser???...or he/she was abused ...watch out for his/her children.
the sex scene in london was rehearsed in the way the book shows it but just didn't ring true.
and on and on...too many to go into here...
the main thing is that what yu see on the screen is supposed to be an honest portrayal of victim and offender...in a book yu have limitless horizons...on the screen yu have very limited ones..."OK, I promise I won't mention it again!
Be happy :)

subject: And the winner is.....
Ahh no problem Butty Nobbucks :)The Jim award is presented to those who meet the following criteria:
1) At least 3 spelling mistakes, of which 2 must completely distort the point of the message, OR you must post a perfectly written message twice by spending too long pressing the "submit" button.
2) You must reply at least twice to your own message apologising for the mistake, the second time apologising for making more mistakes in the original apology.
3) Your errors must make it look like you are personally attacking someone on the board and they retalliate.
4) You belatedly apologise and post the message you originally wanted to say, by which time 3 more topics have been started and no-one is interested anymore anyway.
5) You must quote from something which has nothing whatsoever to do with the topic of the board
6) Answers to questions must be overwhelmingly proved to be totally wrong by everyone else on the board making you feel like a complete idiot.
Well, good luck everyone!
Jim (Triple winner!) :)

subject:Tim's Xmas Movies....Reservoir Reindeers. Rob Rudolph. Planet of the Elves. Bodies, Turkey Breast and Motion. Mistletoetime. Jumpin' at the Turkey-bone Yard. Giftlock'd. The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and her Stuffing. The Legend of The Pissed of the Party. The Perfect Pudding. Mocking the Crackermos. Made in Taiwan (what most of our presents will have written on them). And of course most people at christmas wish their mother-in-law was a World Apart, and when they are there the continual bickering turns the house into a War Zone! The list of Tim's christmas movies is endless I think you'll agree...... :-)
Jim.
PS. And just for Damien Hirst, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Formaldehyde.
