These were the cars from the days when royals had Rolls, Hollywierd had the Benz, but my kid days hadn't begun yet when REAL cars were still being built here.
I wasn't fortunate enough to be there when all the goodies had hemis and glasspacks, scoops and hoodlocks, ram air and racing wheels, Hurst shifters and 4 on the floor, T Tops and power that wanted to leave without you, so I started my childhood and my love affair with the Classics when I was twenty-two, and man, oh, man, but did I learn!!!
These cars could dance and didn't need sound systems to blow out your ears. They had dual exhausts with glass packs that roared like thunder and it was the most beautiful music in the world.
You didn't need sonic boomer sound systems to make your car reverberate. The engines revving, and trying to hold those horses back when GO! already, was the operative word gave even the guys in muscle tees chills down their spines and girls would maul you for a ride. (Mind you, when some of us she-people got old enough, we got our own Chargers, among other great cars.) And a lot of us still mourn their passing.
Nope. We all knew where the meets were. We all knew someone who had a freak stock car that ran on makeshift tracks and never got beaten...or wrecked either.
This is NOT a joke, so get thee to thy email ASAP because these vehicles are too great to last. Some are already sold, and while the prices might seem too good to be true, I assure you they are bonafide. Many are prizewinning showcars virtually untouched down to the wheels. Some have had television programs made specifically about them. Still others have articles written about them in American Classic Car Magazines.
