| Photos from Mirror Mirror filming
location
I have been looking for pictures of the filming locations of Mirror Mirror for a long time. A few weeks ago I got contact with the Sacred Heart College, where Mirror Mirror was filmed partly. They told me they had postcards of the house of Sir Ivor, so they sent them to me. This is one of the photos they sent to me.
The house is called Brendenwood, and it's built in 1909. It was purchased by the Mission Sisters in 1952 and housed the Sacred Heart primary school. Later, as The Music House it was part of Sacred Heart College untill 1995. This house doesn't exist anymore. On this place a new house was built. |
Interview with Jansen Spencer
Source: Official Neighbours Site (www.neighbours.com)
1. Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in Melbourne, lived there for a while then moved to the Gisborne area, which is fourty-five minutes west of Melbourne. It's kind of like living in the country, with the benefit of being close to the city.
2. Are you from a large family? There's four of us. Mum Elaine, Dad Paul and my older brother Kristian, who is two and a half years older than me. Mum and Dad are great - we get along really well. Kristian and I get along okay too. We're pretty different to each other.
3. What were you like as a kid? I was a good kid, I think. Maybe a bit cheeky. I only turned bad as I grew older! No, just kidding, though I probably did start to go a little off the rails with school and all that.
4. That sounds like a story. Tell us more. No, no, no. There's nothing controversial or anything like that. I just didn't like it very much. I just went, then came home, went, then came home. Luckily I got Neighbours so I was able to leave and not worry about it any more.
5. When did you become interested in acting? Mum got me started in modeling when I was about four years old. I kept doing and it and doing it, as did my brother. But Kristian gave it up to concentrate on footy, and I kept going. Then I started auditioning and one day I got a phone call saying they wanted me for three months on Neighbours. That was two and a half years ago, and I'm still there.
6. How have you changed during your time on the show? Heaps - in every way. When I first started, people used to say I was a mute because I didn't talk to anyone. I was pretty scared of the whole thing, but now I don't shut up!
7. Do you think that working with so many adults has made you grow up faster? I guess so. Getting a full time job at the age of fifteen or sixteen is a bit weird, because most kids are still at school or just working part time then. You can't really muck around too much on a show like Neighbours because everyone has a job to do. If you muck around they kick you out, so I had to behave!
8. Has your experience on the show confirmed in your mind that acting is the profession for you? For sure. I know it's what I want to keep doing, so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that I can. But I know that it's also good to have something to fall back on, so I'll probably think about that one day too. But for now, I'm happy and going with the flow.
9. In past interviews, you have expressed a little frustration at the way the character of Paul is written. What haven't you liked, and is it changing? There have been times when I thought he was a bit of a dag, but he is improving, I think. He's getting older and I'm trying to make him a bit cooler. |

| DOUNHO SITE OF THE MONTH
Gummidge, also known as 'Gummidge's Aussie and Kiwi Young Actors' chose DOUNHO as Site of the Month November. Finally, after eight months of work, I get a reward for this. All I'd like to say to Gummidge is: Thank you, thank you, thank you. DOUNHO is Site of the Month November, but how did it become so good? After I had seen the Television Series 'Mirror Mirror' in 1996 I decided to search the Internet about this series. But unfortunenately I didn't find anything. I saw 'Mirror Mirror II' in 1998, and I decided to search the Internet again. This time I found the Staroasis Page, and later I found out it was linked to Gummidge. Via Gummidge I got in contact in with more and more Serials and Actors. In March 2000 I had collected so much information about 'Mirror Mirror' that I decided to make a Homepage of this Series. In May I decided to add the Serials 'Spellbinder', 'Thunderstone' and 'The Wayne Manifesto' and to call it: The Downunderhomepage, or DOUNHO for short. I worked during the summer holiday, after the summer holiday untill late October on my site. My site was first online at 31 October, 2000. My Homepage already had much visitors, but I hadn't got enough space. That's why I moved DOUNHO to this new place. Tips for people who want to build a Homepage about a TV Series: - Upload your Homepage regularly and mention the date you last updated your site. - Add Interviews to your site, Interviews are very wanted. Even if they're short, put them on your Homepage! - Don't copy ALL the information from other sites, but use information from sites which are unknown yet. You can also use recent information, which is VERY WANTED!!! For more questions or suggestions, just mail me at: tom.brouwers@home.nl |
10. Do you think the storyline with Felicity (Holly Valance) is a good thing for Paul? I think so. It's going to drag out for a long time, but I do like the way it's going. I don't even know if they are going to end up together, but if they do, I hope it is strung out.
11. Are you still in touch with Rebecca Ritters, who played Paul's last girlfriend Hannah? Yes, we got along very well and I think we'll always try and stay in touch.
12. How do you get along with Holly? Good. It always takes a while to get to know someone, but we get along well.
13. What about Jonathan Dutton (Tad)? You are as thick as thieves on screen - is it the same off? We get along really well. We have to because we work together all the time! No, he's really good. We often share cabs to and from work, so we spend a lot of time together.
14. You also work very closely with Anne Charleston (Madge) and Ian Smith (Harold). Have they been helpful and supportive of you? Very much so, although I can hardly remember what Anne looks like - she's been away so long! But they are full of great advice and always give me tips. Particularly with all the technical things, as I didn't know anything about taking direction when I started. Ian is actually a lot of fun, not at all like Harold. He's much cooler than Harold. |
| DAV HOFLIN & JEF WALKER
NOVEMBER 17, 2000 I got contact with a boy who said to be David Hoflin. I never heard of him ever since, so I guess it wasn't him. But, we'll keep on searching to find the real David and Jeffrey!!!
NOVEMBER 22, 2000 Someone has recently written a letter to David (via JMS) and David told her he's going to Sydney very soon to film a TV Series called 'Head Start'. But we know two things for sure now: 1. David is going to act again. 2. David doesn't live in Sydney.
We'll keep in touch with you about David, and Jeffrey off course.
NOVEMBER 24, 2000 Merijn van der Meer, who is Webmaster of the Lauren Hewett Page, gave us his compliments for our site! He said he had met Lauren Jeffrey visited her recently in Sydney. Merijn told us that David lives in Melbourne for sure, so that's good news. He also told us he met Jeffrey's sister in England!!!! He said she has got the same round face as Jeffrey has. Fans: listen up!! It won't take long now before we get in touch with David and Jeffrey! Probably it will be next week. So look out for that! We're curious about their opinions about this site. We'll let you know more as soon as we know more about the guys.

15. Do you socialise with any of your co-stars? Yeah, I've been to the snow with Daniel MacPherson. And Jonathan and Holly, of course. Ryan Maloney is also really cool - we get up to lots of no good. Mainly the people I do scenes with.
16. You've just come back from doing pantomime in the UK. Whereabouts were you, and how did you find it? I was in Sheffield, doing Cinderella. It was good. It was a four week run, with two weeks of rehearsals beforehand. I've never done stage before so it was a new experience for me. I thought I would forget my lines, but it didn't end up being that bad. It was probably easier than Neighbours as you only have to learn one set of lines, rather than new ones every day. It was a bit scary singing, though - I've never done that before, except for in the shower. I think I went ok - I didn't get any negative comments. I'm going to have lessons this year, so that I'll be better when I go back next Christmas.
17. How did you find the reaction from the public in the UK? Really good. Everyone was so into the show. Every time I walked along the street at least one or two people said something, which doesn't really happen over here. Sometimes it was a bit scary, being in a different country and all that, but mostly it was ok.
18. Were you mobbed by screaming girls? No, not really. There were always heaps of girls waiting outside the stage door, so that's as close as I ever came to being mobbed.
19. Do you enjoy the attention? I'm a bit shy of it, actually. It was funny, because Daniel MacPherson was also there and he loves it. He can't get enough of it. I know it's not going to last forever, so I probably should try to enjoy it.
20. Does the recognition factor make it hard for you to have a personal life? No, not really. I just do my own thing and not worry about it. Maybe if I was living in England it would be hard, but not over here.
21. Finally, in general, what are your ambitions for the future? Where do I begin? I don't really know. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing. I have at least another year on Neighbours, so that is my priority for the time being. After that, I don't know. I have a new agent who is really good, so hopefully she can get me more work. |
