The Cherokee Morning Song

We n' de ya ho, We n' de ya ho,
We n' de ya, We n' de ya Ho ho ho ho,
He ya ho, He ya ho, Ya ya ya

Translation - We n' de ya ho
Freely translated:

"A we n'" (I am),        "de" (of),

"Yauh" --the-- (Great Spirit),

"Ho" (it is so).

Written as: A we n' de Yauh ho

(I am of the Great Spirit, Ho!).
This language stems from very ancient Cherokee

This is not a song of my people but beautiful all the same

Indigenous people are Beautiful and Simple nations.  Lovers and caretakers of the Earth.  Great Warriors and a proud people.  This is a dedication to all indigenous people who are in the battle to learn and appreciate there own culture.  Though the past has been a hard and hurtful thing.  We must stand and keep strong as our ancestors would have.  Yes I say WE.  I to am of a Native Nation.  Indigenous persons are not only Native Americans. There are many tribes on the earth and we must all learn about our people.

MYTH

Still to this day many people think that Scalping started with Native Nations.  That is not true!  The White man would scalp the natives for their Beautiful long hair.  Englishmen loved wings didn't they? For whatever reason they scalped us, to use the hair for a wing or to hang as a souvenir.  The white man started scalping natives.  In return we did the same to them.

Reap what you sow.

Indigenous people were considered Savages.  Not even human.  We were slaughtered and destroyed in many aspects.  Still we are depicted in artwork all over the world. Our people are considered some of the most beautiful people on the face of this earth.  We are often shown with strong huntering Animals such as Wolves, Eagles & Tigers. We are also shown with Bears, Deer, Horses & Buffalo. Showing us as one with all of nature.

Our people have also been known as keepers of the earth and sprit world.

Still we are in a battle.  Once the battle was for our lives. Now the battle is for our freedom.  In many countries around the world indigenous people of different nations are still fighting for their freedom.  For there right to learn and worship as their ancestors did.  Their activities banned and subjects for conversation must still be whispered.  They are fighting for the voice to speak and live as they want to.  Records to the past locked, prison a fate not far they continue to struggle for their rights as Native Persons.

We are asked to Forget!

We are asked to not remember!

We are asked to let go!

So easy for someone to say.  But when you think of all that we have lost and struggle to attain.  Our traditional ways stolen from us.  Our land and home taken.  Our families murdered and broken.  How can you forget so easy?  I never understood how men have gone across the earth saying they have discovered something.  You cannot discover something that has been inhabited.  You cant stick your flag in the ground and say it is yours.

My Tribe

My people are Taino.  One of the two original tribes of what is now called Puerto Rico (Port or Riches). The original name of my land is Boriken (Land of the Lords).  Taino people have been found to inhabit many places on earth.  Our red earth ware has been found in Africa as well as many other islands and countries. We can be traced back before 1500 AD.  It was on a Saturday of November 18th 1493 that our people "discovered" Colon (Columbus) and his flag Ship the Santa Maria, along with the other European Spanish invaders.  On "November 19th" It was on a Sunday that our people lost their GOD GIVEN FREEDOM.  This day further marks the beginning of the Taino Slavery, of a brutal inhuman Mass Genocide backed by the Catholic Church and its Catholic Kings of Spain upon some 6 to 8 Million of our Taino ancestors, a "kind" & trusting "Gentle" people.

I ask you all my Brother and Sisters to learn about your Nations and continue the fight for our freedom.  I to am still learning, do not keep your eyes closed and forget.  Remember your ancestors and remember that even though we have suffered such inhuman acts upon our people.

WE STILL LIVE.

WE WILL NEVER DIE.

Remember and learn.

DO NOT FORGET!

May you walk with the Sprit!

May your moccasins leave footprints

on all the main paths, and walk with

the chiefs of all the tribes that live

in peace on Earth.
